Custom LED Lighting & Effects – The Wood @ Glastonbury 2016
It’s always exciting to be involved in the development of a new area of a festival, but especially so when that festival is Glastonbury – one of the most well known festival in the world.
We helped provide a variety of special effects and atmospheric lighting for the area, to help give this brand new area a very special feel.
We created several different unique visual effects, working with other artists in the area. Our Custom LED Orbs enchanted visitors walking through the main pathway into the area.
Each one of the LED Orbs contains 8 individually addressable RGB pixels. We provided 40 Strings of 6 Balls, which were tastefully draped from trees, spread in undergrowth, and suspended in a visually impressive spiderweb formation.
Driven by one of our powerful Resolume Media Servers , these fixtures bought the area to live, pulsating and breathing colour into The Wood right the way through the night.
The Lake area was home to a custom build – 40 Individual Laser Units shooting across the rolling low-smoke of the lake. From initial conversations with area organisers, using laser pens during the site visit, we then took this idea to the logical extreme – and designed and developed a rugged, waterproof, 50mw pin laser system that could be controlled by DMX. This array of 40 lasers was an impressive effect to behold to everyone who passed by the lake area.
Also, using our stock of outdoor LED Par Cans, the foliage of the lakeside was dramatically illuminated at night, completing the overall feel of the area.
