The Forum Hertfordshire boasts a capacity of 2250 people across 3 rooms. However Licensed Trade Manager, Luke Delderfield, found some new potential within the venue to create a 4th room using the sound proof shutter which divides the space under the balcony from the main room. Until this date the shutter has only ever been used to reduce the room capacity of the Main Auditorium.

Having been involved with the Forum since the building was first built, we were asked to provide a high specification audio solution for this new, 400-capacity space. We discussed ideas and decided that there should be a main focus within the room – The DJ. The speakers must all point in the same direction in order to minimise hearing multiple instances of the same sound, and create single wave front down the long length of the room.

The speakers chosen were Funktion – One: a company who are considered makers of the some of the finest club sound systems in the world. Boxes installed include –

  • Funktion-one – Res 2U
  • Funktion-one – F218 mk2
  • Funktion-one – BR218
  • Funktion-one – F1201

We also installed the Latest Generation of FFA (Full Fat Audio) Amplifiers with their G2 DSP processing built into the FFA – 6004 amps. We cannot speak highly enough about how good this processing is compared to many other amplifiers out there on the market. The audio quality is second to none, and the control software controlling the DSP over Wifi made programming and tuning the PA system a breeze.

Venue Technical Manager, Bahy Gaber, was delighted with the installation. Creating a bar space into another room with a sound system to rival all other rooms with in the venue was a great move for the venue, and was a great way to diversify the use of the space.
